Round-robin schedule generator

The schedule uses the Berger circle method: hold one team fixed and rotate the rest each round. That gives every team exactly one match per round, one meeting with every opponent, and an even spread of home and away. With an odd number of teams, one team sits out each round and every team gets exactly one bye.

What happens with an odd number of teams?

An empty slot is added. One team rests each round, and by the end every team has rested exactly once.

How many matches does a round robin have?

For n teams over a single leg it is n×(n−1)/2. Eight teams is 28 matches. Playing the return leg doubles it.

How are ties in the standings broken?

The common order in Vietnamese grassroots football is head-to-head, then goal difference, then goals scored. Write it into the rules before the tournament starts.
