Tournament seeding generator
Turn a ranked team list into balanced first-round bracket positions.
One team per line. Duplicate names are dropped automatically. · 0 teams
List teams from strongest to weakest. The first team is seed 1, the second is seed 2, and so on.
At least 2 teams are needed.
Teams are placed in standard bracket seed order, so seed 1 and seed 2 sit in opposite halves and cannot meet before the final. If the number of teams is not a power of two, the bracket expands to the next valid size and the highest seeds receive the first-round byes.
Frequently asked questions
- How should I rank the teams before seeding?
- Use an objective result such as last season's finish, a qualifying table or an announced coefficient. Publish the rule before registration closes so every team knows how its seed was decided.
- What happens with 6, 10 or 12 teams?
- The bracket expands to 8 or 16 slots. Empty slots become first-round byes for the highest seeds, while every other team still has a defined opponent.
- Is seeding the same as a random draw?
- No. Seeding deliberately separates the strongest teams. A random draw gives every team an equal chance of every available position.
